Our June Make a Wish Story A giraffe-mad boy has been granted a special audience with nature’s tallest animals! George, aged five, who has Cerebral Palsy, was treated to an all-expense paid visit to Marwell Zoo by Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK. George, his Mum Sarah and siblings Charlie, aged four, and Rosie, nine months, arrived at Marwell Zoo in the morning and spent their first few hours enjoying the wild and wonderful sights and sounds of the wildlife. In the afternoon, George was welcomed into the zoo’s giraffe enclosure by a zookeeper and introduced to the towering mammals in turn. For an extra-special treat, George, whose condition keeps him in a wheelchair, was helped to feed the giraffes, including their babies, their favourite food – bananas and carrots. After the special trip, George’s Mum Sarah said: “Visiting the giraffes was a unique experience for George and my family. George had such a great day and smiled so much. It made me so happy to see him happy, so a big thank you for making this day possible.” |
