The annual 1st Nailsea Scots carnival in Somerset will be marked by a day of fun activities this weekend, including a fancy dress procession and decorated floats.
The event - whose proceeds will go towards helping the 1st Nailsea Scout Group, 240 children aged from 6 to 14 in Beaver, Cubs and Scout troops - takes place on Saturday on Scotch Horn field in the North Somerset town.
According to thisissomerset.co.uk, the procession of fancy dress walkers and decorated floats will arrive at Scotch Horn via the High Street and judging will take place between 1.30 and 2pm. Organiser Kathryn Cleave revealed that there will be six float entries and the most walkers the event has seen in "a long time".
In addition to the fancy dress festivities, there will be street dancers from Nailsea School, a Wild West refreshment tent, a people-powered go-kart competition, a bouncy castle and a car boot sale.
And Andy Hope, a spokesmen for the Nailsea Scouts organisation, told thisissomerset.co.uk: "If there is any resident who feel they know someone who should be put in the stocks and get a good soaking by having wet sponges thrown at them bring them along and we can arrange it."
The money raised by the event will go towards helping the Nailsea Scouts group pay for indoor and outdoor activities, like archery, canoeing, rock climbing, sailing and camping. It also hopes to fund plans to extend its headquarters in Clevedon Road with some of the proceeds.
