The second weekend in July plays host to this year's Haverhill Show and guests are encouraged to slip into wacky and wonderful fancy dress and let their imaginations run wild.
The show, to be held in the Haverhill recreation ground, offers quality family entertainments as well as being held as a fundraiser for Haverhill charity LAMP H, as well as other organisations. The weekend will also play host to a huge range of attractions including a fancy dress competition, which will be held alongside a pass-the-parcel game on Sunday July 12.
In the past, the fancy dress competition has been themed, with previous inspirations including clowns or cowboys, however for the 2009 show competitors are asked merely to be as creative as they can be, the Haverhill Echo reports. Other competitions found at the show include a popular baby show and dog show as well as a glamorous granny competition and a knobbly knees contest.
The weekend also boasts many opportunities to enjoy local creative talent; Collette's Entertainment School and Dell's School Of Dance will perform and the Tang Soo Do Karate Group will demonstrate martial art skills.
Fans of vintage cars will also be well catered to with a motor display also to feature motorbikes and scooters, while a car boot sale is sure to attract many bargain hunters.
A spokesman for the popular annual event said: "Essentially a family event, the Haverhill Show has grown from strength to strength over a period of twenty-five years. It has acquired an excellent reputation for drawing together the generations and for its focus on fun in the community."
